Eye Dilation in
The Woodlands, TX
Expert eye care from your trusted local optometrist. Our board-certified team uses advanced retinal imaging to detect glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and macular degeneration — often before symptoms ever appear.
What Is a Dilated Eye Exam?
Dilating eye drops widen your pupil, giving your doctor a direct, unobstructed view of the retina, optic nerve, and internal eye structures.
The eye is the only place in the human body where a physician can directly observe the central nervous system — making every dilated exam a powerful diagnostic tool for both your ocular health and overall wellbeing.
Conditions a Dilated Exam Can Detect
Many serious eye conditions cause no pain and no visible symptoms — until permanent damage has already occurred. Dilation is the only exam that reveals them early.
Optic nerve changes and elevated intraocular pressure detected before vision loss occurs. We offer a dedicated glaucoma monitoring program for high-risk patients using dilation alongside advanced imaging.
Our glaucoma program →Age-related deterioration of central vision that affects reading and daily tasks. Identified early through dilated retinal evaluation and retinal fundus imaging.
Learn more →Vascular changes from diabetic complications detected in early stages, when treatment is most effective. Annual diabetic eye exams recommended for all patients managing diabetes.
Diabetic eye exams →Lens clouding tracked over time to guide appropriate treatment and surgical co-management decisions. We support patients through every phase of their cataract journey.
Cataract monitoring →Urgent findings requiring immediate attention to prevent permanent vision loss. If you experience sudden floaters, flashes of light, or a curtain over your vision — contact us immediately.
