What Happens During Your
Comprehensive Eye Exam
Our eye exam goes well beyond a basic vision check. Using state-of-the-art diagnostic technology, we perform a thorough assessment of your ocular health, refractive error, eye pressure, and retinal condition during every visit.
Visual Acuity & Refraction
We determine the most accurate prescription for glasses or contact lenses — checking both distance and near vision to ensure your correction is precise, not just approximate.
Prescription UpdateIntraocular Pressure Testing
We measure the pressure inside your eyes to screen for glaucoma and ocular hypertension — two conditions that develop silently and can cause permanent vision loss without early detection.
Glaucoma ScreeningRetinal Evaluation
A dilated retinal exam allows our optometrists to detect early signs of diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal tears, and other eye diseases before they affect your central vision.
Disease DetectionDry Eye Assessment
We evaluate tear production, film quality, and ocular surface health to identify dry eye symptoms before they worsen. Many patients have chronic dry eye without realising it is a treatable condition.
Tear Film AnalysisBinocular Vision & Pediatric Testing
We assess how your eyes work together — checking alignment, tracking, and convergence. This is especially important for children's pediatric vision exams, where problems can affect learning and development.
Kids & AdultsAnterior Segment & Cataract Check
We examine the cornea, iris, and lens under magnification to assess cataract formation, corneal irregularities, and any anterior eye conditions that may require treatment or monitoring.
Lens & Cornea HealthAfter your exam, we walk you through every finding clearly. No rushed appointments, no vague answers, and no pressure. Personal care and individualized attention are built into every visit at Superior Eye Care.
Eye Care Services Built
Around Your Vision Needs
Superior Eye Care is more than an eye doctor's office. We handle vision correction, eye disease management, specialty contact lenses, myopia management, and LASIK co-management — all under one roof across The Woodlands, Willowbrook, and Conroe.
Contact Lenses & Eyewear
We fit standard and specialty contact lenses — including ortho-k lenses for myopia management — and carry a curated selection of designer frames across a wide range of styles and budgets. Patients can handle their complete vision care needs in a single visit.
Family Eye Care — Ages 5 & Up
We see patients of all ages — from pediatric vision exams starting at age 5 through adult and senior eye health management. Early detection matters at every stage of life, and our exams are built to catch eye condition changes before they become serious problems.
Dry Eye Treatment
Dryness, irritation, and fluctuating vision are signs your eyes need more than artificial tears. Our optometrist in The Woodlands evaluates the underlying cause of dry eye symptoms and builds a personalised treatment plan — not a generic one-size-fits-all protocol.
Glaucoma & Eye Disease Management
Dr. Sharon Mathukutty is a licensed glaucoma specialist and therapeutic optometrist. We manage ongoing eye diseases, monitor vision health over time, and coordinate with surgical specialists when intervention is required — providing continuity of care across every stage.

Book Your Eye ExamCommon Questions
Before Your
Eye Exam
Here are the questions our patients ask most often before booking their comprehensive eye exam at Superior Eye Care.
Book Your Eye ExamMost adults should have a comprehensive eye exam once a year, even without noticeable vision changes. Many serious eye conditions — including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration — develop silently with no early symptoms. Annual exams catch these changes when treatment is most effective and vision loss can still be prevented.
Yes. We see children starting from age 5. Pediatric vision exams check for refractive errors, lazy eye (amblyopia), convergence problems, and other conditions that affect learning and development. We recommend children have their first full eye exam before starting school — many vision problems go undetected because children assume everyone sees the same way they do.
Yes. We do our best to accommodate same-day appointments for eye emergencies — including sudden vision changes, eye injuries, infections, foreign objects, and acute eye pain. Call your nearest Superior Eye Care location directly and our team will fit you in as quickly as possible. Do not wait on an eye emergency.
A comprehensive eye exam includes your refractive prescription, but a separate contact lens fitting is required to determine the best lens type and fit for your eyes. This is especially important for patients interested in specialty lenses, toric lenses for astigmatism, multifocal lenses, or ortho-k lenses for myopia management. We offer contact lens fittings at all three locations.
We accept most vision and medical insurance plans. Coverage depends on your specific plan — vision insurance typically covers routine eye exams, while medical insurance may cover exams related to eye disease management such as glaucoma monitoring or diabetic eye exams. Call your preferred location before your appointment and our team will verify your benefits.
Yes. Comprehensive eye exams are available at all three Superior Eye Care locations — The Woodlands(Spring, TX), Willowbrook(Houston, TX), and Conroe(Conroe, TX). Each location offers the same full standard of eye care with the same diagnostic technology and clinical approach. Book online at whichever location is most convenient for you.
